  1. Bookmarks, Highlights, etc

I'd like to save some phrases or paragraphs to re-read in the future, further investigate about it, etc. This is a basic feature that almost every other book reading app has and I think I'd benefit greatly its overall user experience

  3. The proposal is to add a text direction correction feature for translations into right-to-left (RTL) languages in smart book.

Explanation of the Idea: When translating text from languages like English (which reads left-to-right) into Arabic (which reads right-to-left), there is an issue with displaying the translated texts correctly. This error negatively impacts the reading experience and makes it less enjoyable for users. Why the Idea is Beneficial: This feature would greatly enhance users' ability to read and comprehend translated texts, thereby improving their experience and making the application more appealing to users dealing with RTL languages. Who Will Benefit: A wide range of users will benefit from this feature, including Arabic readers, students, and professionals who need to read translated texts from various languages. How It Should Work: The application should automatically recognize the text direction of the language used in the translation and display it correctly. There should also be settings that allow users to choose text direction options, ensuring a comfortable and smooth reading experience.

  4. Add Glossary feature

This would allow us to edit character names or pronouns easily and help ensure novel-specific terms are translated more accurately. Through this feature, we can auto-detects new character names and special terms from each chapter. Also Edit the detected names and terms to whatever we prefer, and watch them stay consistent throughout future chapter translations of the novel! Ai mix up the gender, so we need this feature so that we can fix it. A video demo: https://youtu.be/u_BXUPd4MAc?si=OLB5MUQ8jNmmIz5g

  8. correction of original text

Sometimes I also want to improve the original text, e.g. I download subtitles from YouTube that are not broken into sentences, there are only words but no punctuation marks. I would correct this while reading.

  9. Ability to save and share themes

When I add a new fonts for both my native language and the language I want to learn ... change background and text colors ... i wish I can save these as a unique theme... adding a name to it and if it's for day or night ... then make it active ... this way i can add different themes and use any of them easily without having to change the colors, fonts, separately each time i want to try something new and I can't go back to how it was before easily also it would be very very nice to share themes with my friends via a link and if you made a page in your website for people to share there's, gathering spot where we can all swap cool designs, get inspired, and make our reading experiences even more enjoyable! Thanks!

  10. Read and translate a paragraph with gesture

Is it a way to redesign as to translate an entire paragraph not with a button, but with a gesture. For example, swiping across the text to the right - translating this paragraph, swiping to the left - pronouncing the paragraph.

  11. Export to Anki as an .apkg file as an additional convenience

Advantages: We immediately receive a finished deck, ready to transfer to other devices, send to someone or put in the repository. There is no need to first send the data to Anki, then export it to .apkg and then have a transportable file. Many users use SmartBook on a tablet, and Anki on a smartphone because using SmartBook on a phone is not convenient, the screen is too small, but for learning and memorizing a phone is more convenient, since it’s always at hand (and the vertical screen format is more suitable). This means that not everyone has Anki on their tablet and SmartBook on their phone. This process does not present any inconveniences (SmartBook -> .apkg -> Anki) since Anki users are more advanced and export to Anki does not happen often (as soon as new words accumulated in the dictionary). Anki has an effective mechanism for processing duplicates and cards moving from deck to deck, so users can handle it by themselves. In .apkg you can put anything you want, icons, any other media, etc.

  12. Addition to the translation itself

If you select the settings for the full translation (Advanced settings -> Automatic display of full translation) in the translation panel at the bottom of the screen, in addition to the translation itself, additional information appears, such as antonyms, synonyms and more. It would be nice to include an additional field named β€œAdditional” in the entries of the dictionary, intended for synonyms, antonyms and other user info. This also corresponds to one of the Note types when exporting to Anki, where there is an Additional field, but in fact it is always empty. I want to share a universal template that I developed for Anki. Maybe this will give the developer some ideas. Note type UNIVERSAL Front: original word or expressions. Comments: type of entry (noun, verb so on) and other user comments about grammar etc in free form. Associations: synonyms, antonyms and other expressions in original language that can be associated with the Front field. Translations: translations in some languages that I know (currently 4). Context: examples of usage of the word or expression. Visuals: images, videos, gifs etc. Present: applicable for verbs. Past: applicable for verbs. Future: applicable for verbs. Pay attention that I do not use the transcription field. Modern technology allows you to replace this with TTS and transcription is simply not needed. Fields Front, Associations and Context are reproduced audio using TTS (AnkiDroid v. 2.17 supports this). I collect translations in some languages that I know in Translation field. This helps not only to learn the original language, but also to improve proficiency in others. This combines well with exporting from a Smart Book to Anki, where the fields for all translations are placed in one line in the Translation field

  15. Additional fields in the dictionary

Problem 1: In addition to the fields already available in the dictionary (translations, context, type of speech etc) many users have long been requesting additional fields for a more complete description of the words and expressions (definitions, synonyms, conjugation, user comments etc). Solution: Implement regular text fields without auto-filling from external sources (translators). See pic 1. Problem 2: Due to the different formats for presenting the translations by different translators, as well as the variety of requests for META-data from individual users, it is absolutely impossible to fill in additional fields automatically. (For example, compare Google and Reverso translations). Solution: Using the standard clipboard of Gboard the user can copy those texts from the translator built into the dictionary that he/she considers necessary while switching to various translators (array in the bottom of the translator window) and then can distribute these saved texts from the clipboard into those fields in which it considers necessary. See pics 3 and 4. This is not an ideal solution, but it can be implemented by developers in the foreseeable time.
